Who Is A Memory Box Artist?

We are artists who paint Memory Boxes.
We paint Memory Boxes for mothers and dad's who have lost a baby.
When I googled Memory Box, I was shocked that I didn't find this on the first page, and first listing. Way back on the third page was a Facebook link. What did I find?

There are many, many Memory Boxes, and many reasons for them. Some are just for memories of a lifetime or an event~happy times. Some are for fallen soldiers. Many sites sell them. Country Living magazine has a top listing and even Oprah is included on the page. They can be purchased commercially.
Pinterest and Etsy have links.

As artists, we do not sell Memory Boxes

It is a gift from the heart. We purchase them, we paint them, and we mail them. They are mailed in bunches from six to twelve or more in a box.
Where do they go?
To hospitals.

Hospitals all over the United States contact the website and request them. An email goes out to the artists. Boxes are mailed to the hospital.

When a baby is born and does not survive, how do parents deal with their loss? Memory Boxes help by having something to take home. There may be a photo, a wrist band, and lock of hair, or the special layette. These things identify and are particular to that precious child. The nurses are able to give a box. The mementos are added. The box leaves with the parents.

Instead of only an experience of grief, the box can be opened as often as needed. It can be shared with caring relatives and close friends. It is tangible. Giving a lasting identity to a life that was short, but not forgotten. Healing can begin. Instead of emptiness, there is a Memory Box. I recently made a personalized box for the daughter of a friend.  It was so helpful!

We are artists, we decide what will adorn each box. Nurses can allow the parent to choose which they prefer.

Sometimes there are poems inside or sayings to soften the loss.
The website is: http://memoryboxes.org If you are not an artist you may like to support the program; which helps with the purchase of boxes and mailing costs. Donations are accepted. You will find all the information there. If you are an artist, you can give back the love and joy of your talent by joining the cause.
The call for boxes never stops.
